Time As Manager: October 2010 - October 2012
First Game in Charge: Saturday, October 30th, 2010 vs. East Fife (4-1)

Alan arrived at Dumbarton as Jim Chapman's assistant in December 2007, helping the team to the Third Division title in 2008/09. He took over as manager in October 2010 when Jim Chapman moved to a football development role at the club. Alan guided the team to safety at the end of that season and then went on to win the play offs in 2011/12 and promotion to the First Division. However, after a poor start to the 2012/13 season, Alan was relieved of his duties in October 2012.
